• Hi,

COnsidering that Block themes, are more to do with patterns and templates, can I use the default theme for a long term? I mean using 2024 or 2025 theme, I can design my own patterns/templates so does it really matter which theme I use? WP core, PHP, plugins will get updated anyway. So does using a default theme for long term is ok?

    Thanks,

    PRad

  • Hi,

    Honestly, I believe yes.

For example, https://ww.wp.xz.cn/themes/twentyseventeen/ was the official 2017 theme edition and has been supported and updated for 8 years. The latest update was in November 2024, so there’s a pretty good chance that the 2024 and 2025 themes will be supported up to 2030 or beyond.

You can try using child theme for that matter.

    Cheers!

    Hello @pradg

You can use WordPress default theme , but best practice is always create Child theme and override its template . so in future whenever new update comes it will not affect your original theme .
