Using WPI – MYSQL will not install
-
Hello All!
Trying to install WordPress on a brand new server. It is 2008 x64. Running the WPI – and here’s what happens.I select wordpress to install in the WPI. It then pops up the Prerequisites window. What type of database to use – and it has MySQL (not installed). I then type in a password that is complicated – 8 characters, one capital letter, lower case latter, a number, and funny character (!@#$%^&*()_+). I click on Continue.
Next window – There is an X next to WordPress and MySQL Windows 5.1. I click on I Accept.
The next window says that it is downloading MySQL Connector/Net, then MySQL Windows 5.1. This runs for a while with a little progress bar. But the data speed is 0 Kb/sec.
The next window says it is in the Install phase. It says – The specified password for account ‘root” is not valid, or failed to connect to the database server. It is asking for the password again. I cannot get past this point – so I click on cancel.
The next window is Finish – and says… We’re sorry. The following products have failed to install.
MySQL Connector/Net – This product did not download successfully: Unable to connect to the remote server
WordPress – This product cannot be installed because a product that it depends on did not install successfully.
MySQL Windows 5.1 – This product did not download successfully: Unable to connect to the remote server
And you click on Finish.
I assume that the problem is that the WPI cannot download MySQL? Has anyone else run into this bump in the install process?
Let me know, and thanks!
