I received an alert that “the USPS Web Tools API platform will be retired on January 25, 2026. To avoid service disruptions, you must migrate to the new USPS APIs as soon as possible.” Is this related to the “USPS Simple Shipping for WooCommerce Plugin”? And will you be updating the plugin to use the new USPS APIs? Or is there something else that users of this plugin need to do on our end? I believe that your plugin is the only place where I am using USPS APIs. The User ID I entered into the “USPS Simple” settings when I first installed this plugin are from when I registered with the USPS Web Tools API in 2022. Do I need to update that ID now? I appreciate any insights you can provide on this topic.

Hello Dan. As I was looking through other posts, I noticed you stated that a USPS ID is not required for the plugin, and that the USPS ID field can even be left empty. If I removed my USPS ID from that field, would that resolve this issue? I suppose the plugin may still rely on that old API unless the plugin is updated with the new APIs (which may have already been done??). Any guidance for me? I’m not a technical person, so I apologize if this question is silly. Thank you for your time, and have a great day!

    Hello @sacheend,

You can leave the User ID field empty to use the built-in id, or provide your own if you wish. It’s up to you.

The plugin uses the old USPS API. We’ll update it by 2026.

Could you share a screenshot of this alert?

Thanks so much @dangoodman! Looking forward to the update.

I’m curious – why would someone want/need to use their own ID vs the built-in ID? Is their own ID required if they are linking to other USPS functions like generating and printing labels?

    Thank you for the screenshots.

I do not see any benefits from using an own ID. Also, the plugin does not link the ID to the labels.

Ahh, okay. I understand. Thank you for the information, @dangoodman. I really appreciate it. 🙂
