version 5.8.8.4 does not work well
Short code [link-library-search] gives the link list.
And not the search box.I did have an old version 5.8.4.3 on an other website. Downloading this to website where the problem exists, Than everthing works well again.

This is an interesting one. I have the search working correctly on my local development site and on my live production site.
How did you upgrade to the latest version? Through the automated update or a manual update? Have you tried going to the library settings section and re-saving options to make sure that everything is set correctly?
Quite a few files have changed between the two versions that you list above. If you are doing an FTP update, would be preferable to delete all files and install new package.
I did the update automated.
I just renamed the folder to old.
And downloaded the folder from the other website to the plugin folder.I did change again with renaming folders, back and forward, to new and old, to look at it again.
If there was something wrong with my settings, than renaming folders would not solve the problem I think.
Indeed. What you could try doing for your settings is to reset them. This would be done under the Library Settings, where you have buttons to reset the library as a list or table, towards the top of the library settings page.
If that does not work, we could take the slightly more extreme approach of delete the option records from the MySQL database directly.
Do you have a copy of the Plugin Organizer running on your site? I have seen a few users have troubles with Link Library when they had that plugin installed.
I see another problem, but I think it is the same problem.
My page with the short code
[link-library-addlink settings=1]
Has the same problem.
It does not show the form fields. But gives the link list too.
And with version 5.8.4.3 I do not have this problem.I did both reset buttons. I do not know the text on buttons is in English, but one called something like this :
Reset this library
And other button
this library for table layout.I did get a table layout. And reset that with other button.
Both buttons did not give a solution. I still have this problem.
This is stranger and stranger. Is it possible that you might have installed a plugin to manage how other plugins execute? For example, I know that ‘Plugin Organizer’ can cause havok with shortcode-based plugins.
Also, can you check if you have than one copy of Link Library installed in your plugins directory.
As a last resort, could you give me access to log in to your site admin? You can send me credentials using my contact form: ylefebvre.ca/contact-me
I do not have Plugin Organizer
And as far as I know I do not have plugins installed that execute other plugins. Can you connect to your site via FTP and make sure that you don’t have more than folder for Link Library with slightly different names?
You did not answer if you would let me access your admin. I guess that’s a no. Another option would be a desktop sharing session via Skype or TeamViewer. That way, I could look around your site to pinpoint what is causing this without you giving me actual access. Would that work?
I´am sorry for not reacting.
Please, I do want to look at this, but not a lot of time at the moment.Hallo Yannick !
I have the same problem with the last version link-library of the repo and wordpress 3.0.1
I updated first with automatic, because there was an error I updated the repo-version manually by ftp.
[link-library-addlink settings=1]
[link-library-cats settings=1]
[link-library-search]
[link-library settings=1]
gives only 4x linklist, no searchbox
look at
http://www.nmsweitersfeld.ac.at/wp/?page_id=324
other plugins installed: Lightbox Gallery, User Photoan older version of link-library worked with no problem.
Franz
Thanks for the info. I will look to test this with an older version of WordPress like you are using.
I have been able to reproduce the problem using version 3.0.1. It was an interesting walk down memory lane 😉
I don’t understand why that older version of WordPress gets confused between shortcodes with similar beginnings. As a solution, I added new shortcodes where the beginnings are different:
[search-link-library]
[cats-link-library]
[addlink-link-library]This worked on my test setup. Can you download and install my new test version from my github page to confirm if this does the trick for you as well? If it does, I will push this new version to the official WordPress site:
Hallo Yannik !
Super, super – this update works for me.
Thanks a million for quick support.Greetings from Austria.
FranzHallo Yannik !
There is still a problem with
[addlink-link-library]nothing is displayed
Please can you test it again.
FranzSorry for slow response. I will try to get to this last but tomorrow. Not sure why others would have worked and not this…
Just updated my development version on github. Please test and see if addlink form comes up correctly now. If it does, I will push that out to the official release.
