Hi Nando,
The “stable tag” is just used for the plugin directory to know which version it should be offering to users to download, and it’s taken from the readme.txt in trunk: https://plugins.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/browser/megamenu/trunk/readme.txt

Tom
hmm, we have to run security scans on our WP sites and its flagging MMM with a Cross-Site Scripting issue.
We ARE on version 2.4 but the acunetix scanner is still seeing 2.3.8 – I figured it was getting it from the readme file…
Where else could it be getting the old version number from?

Hi Nando,
I’m not sure where it would be getting that from sorry. If you manually change the “stable tag” to 2.4 does the error go away? If not, I think you will need to ask the acrunetix authors where it’s finding the version numbers from.
Regards,
Tom
