Hi @dsl225!
You can find the thumbnails on the Controls tab:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1857-thumbnails
and you can turn them off there.
Autoplaying videos has a lot of limitations made by browsers:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1919-video-slider-issues
Basically on most browsers you can only make your video autoplay if the video is muted. And Chrome also requires a user interaction (click) happen on the page before the video can be started. So you should change your Vimeo (or other video) layer’s settings -> Volume to have it muted:

If you would still have a problem after this, please send me a link to your website, where I can see your slider!
At the Vimeo layer’s settings you can also find a Loop option:

Many thanks for this.
Found out how to remove the thumbnail and autoplay works with Youtube.
Problem is I get the Youtube controls overlay when hovering. Is there a way to avoid this?
Or may I use a self hosted video? Didn’t find how to add the corresponding link though.

At the Youtube layer:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1846-youtube-layer
there is a “Controls” settings what you can turn off.
The self hosted video option is only available in the Pro version of Smart Slider, where you can find a Video layer:
https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1845-video-layer
or use the video as the background of the slide:
