Hey! For days I’m trying to post a video on Mastodon via WP. I changed all kinds of settings but no result. Unfortunately. Hope somebody can help me out with this.

    Here are my ActivityPub settings:

    Hey @ltnrkns 👋

when you mix videos with images, Mastodon will always prefer the images and skip the videos. If you want the Video as preferred media attachment, you either have to remove the images or you have to use the (Post-)Format “Video” for your post.

Matthias thanks for your reply. I saw the move option is integrated. Nice I appreciate it a lot, keep up the good work!! I’m using the Blocksy theme and the (Post-)Format “Video” is not possible.

With the settings as I showed above this is what I get. Post and Media is selected and the post is with a video and without images.

can you please disable the Authorized Fetch option in your ActivityPub settings? otherwise it is hard to check the output of your site.

So the output looks good, maybe it is because of the length/size of the video 🤔

Matthias good morning. Yes it looks like it depends on the length/size of the video. When I cross the 99MB it doesn’t work. I’ve got a video (180MB) hosted on my website account. Still Mastodon decides not to show it. Is there a way to fix this?

So the problem is, that this is special to mastodon and we can’t force them to show it. We provide the video as an attachment, regardless of the size. The only solution I can think of, is to provide smaller videos especially for Mastodon. But this needs some coding.

Btw. If you want to check how Mastodon “sees” your blog-post, you can simply add ?activitypub at the end of your URL. Like for example: https://eltoneerkens.com/music_video_tied/?activitypub

This maybe helps you to play around with the settings a bit!?!

Matthias hello… I’m trying to find my WP site on Pixelfed just like I can find it on Mastodon. @ltnrkns@eltoneerkens.com

But no result… do you have an idea?

I am not sure if Pixelfed supports Authorized Fetch. I would recommend you to disable that in the settings.
