Your issue happens, because we have been contacted by wp.org, that we have to create limitations against custom coding, which affected all layers. You can see here:

within the yellow notice, what html tags are allowed now within the text layer. This does not includes the <video> html tag, so I’m sorry, but in the future in the Free version of Smart Slider you won’t be able to display an mp4 video, not even with custom codes. For mp4 videos you would need the Pro version’s video layer:

In the Free version for videos only the Youtube and Vimeo layers are allowed:

so currently I can only suggest uploading your video to one of these websites, if you want to display it.

If I use the pro version, can I make it look as it was before?
Why they asked you to remove the custom coding? security issues?

1) Slider height
Check the Aspect Ratio of your video:

and make sure it matches the video’s. Also please note that the height of your slider depends on your tallest layer, so if your video needs more vertical space, it will enlarge the whole slider.
2) Hiding YouTube Logo
YouTube allows hiding their logo from the “toolbar” as you can see here:

But if you’re rather looking for a “background video like” experience, you should set up your video like this:

3) MP4 video with the video tag

4) Custom code removal
Every field should only allow adding content that was meant to be there to enhance security. Like a text layer that displays the content in a p tag should only allow tags which are allowed inside the p tag by HTML’s standards:

The video tag is not something that’s allowed inside the p tag so it’s no longer allowed by Smart Slider either.

The image you see is either the cover image you can set in Smart Slider at the YouTube layer > Cover image. If you have an image selected there, you should remove it.
But it can also be the “preview” image YouTube displays before the video starts playing, as you can see on the embeded link:

and I’m sorry but in this case it can’t be removed as YouTube doesn’t offer any option for that.
