Visitor getting multiple notifications from comment post

    Greetings,

    We have a blog user that sent us the following request:

    “When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service?Thanks”

    I don’t see a way to turn that off for this user and their setting (they never created an account that I can see)

    Any ideas were this might be getting triggered.. I already checked plugins (non that deal with this issue, I have only three plugins active: Core Control, EZ Backup and TinyMce Advanced) and the Theme.. (same)

    Any ideas or suggestions on where to correct this problem..

    WordPress itself doesn’t send out emails to subscribers. You need a plugin for that. Since you don’t have such a plugin installed, I can only guess that your user subscribed to your comment feed and it’s the feed notifications that s/he is receiving. Are you signed up with anything like Feedburner?

    but i got the exact same comment on my blog.. i mean, down to the letter. i obviously have the same problem but something a bit weird is going on here..

    could be wrong

    but the exact same comment on two totally different blogs makes you wonder huh 🙂

    anyone out there with an answer i would be greatfull

    even stranger thing is. my website doesnt have a notify me button even on it!! hope this helps. let me know if you figure out whats going on 🙂

    We just got this on our site as well:

    “After i initially commented I clicked the ?Notify me personally whenever new remarks tend to be additional? checkbox and today each time a remark is actually additional I get 4 e-mail with the same comment. Is there any method for you to remove me from that support? Thanks”

    We have the “subscribe to comments” plugin but it’s not turned on.

    VERY similar text in the reply. Something very strange.

    Maybe someone that just wants comments (and their website link) posted?
