My visual editor disappeared after the 3.9 update. I followed the recommended steps of uninstalling all plugins and reverting to the 2014 theme, but the visual editor did not return.

As per the support instructions ‘Using Your Browser to Diagnose JavaScript Errors’ I enabled script debugging in wp-config.php. The visual editor returned.

I’ve now turned off script debugging, could someone tell me what to do next?

Re-enable script debugging. It would seem that your server cannot cope with concatenated javascripts.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

However, I’ve re-enabled script debugging but this has created another problem in the backend: on the page called Edit Menus I can’t toggle open the accordion sections for item types (pages/links/categories).

I’ve found that removing the script debugging code lets me use this again. Obviously I’d prefer not to change code each time I want a different part of the backend to work – is there an alternative solution?
