Hey @kevin_freeman,
I realise what you might have meant. The “Disable visual editor” check box in the profile page was removed in WordPress 6.8, referenced here: https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/core/2025/03/25/miscellaneous-developer-changes-in-wordpress-6-8/.
You might have upgraded the WordPress version for both sites, thus removing the option without knowing. To get back the visual editor, follow the steps below:
- Downgrade to allow version of WordPress like 6.7.
- Head over to the user profile page and uncheck the “Disable visual editor” option.
- Save the changes.
- Upgrade to the latest version of WordPress, the visual editor should be back.
But the checkbox won’t be available.
Before attempting any of the steps make a backup of your site.
If this is not what you intended, please add a screenshot to help us better understand the issue. The guide to do this is available here: https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/support/handbook/appendix/adding-screenshots-on-the-forums/.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck,
Erick

Thanks Erick, Do I have to downgrade using a plug-in?
Hi,
Apologies for the late reply. From my research, I found a plugin that returns the “disable visual editor” option back to the profile page without needing a downgrade. Consider giving it a try: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/classic-visual-editor-options/, download the zip folder, and upload it. It seems the plugin is relatively new. I have tried it on my end, and it does what it says.
Make a backup of your site, before trying the plugin incase it causes any conflicts on you end.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Erick
