Visual editor not working!!

I used to be able to use the visual editor to modify images and text really easily but when I logged in as of two weeks ago, the pages are all in code when I try to edit. I updated the site so that there are blocks now and put the setting on classic but nothing is restoring the visual composition of my old pages. I am not sure how to restore all the code I have into something I can more easily modify.

When I use the visual editor now, it has the code as a part of the formatted paragraph. For example, all my images are still references as code instead of showing the image itself in my editor… any advice on this would be great. would rather not recreate all my pages
