I realized, in the middle of the night, that I could copy the screen then create a page so the visual of the problem could be seen better. Please go to this link on my website and you’ll see what I see when I try to create a new post and/or new page. Again…many thanks for your help.
Try (temporarily) deactivating your plugins and switching to the twentytwelve theme to see if any may be causing that to happen.
If not, reset the plugins folder by changing the name on the folder to something else for a few minutes.
I’ve worked thru everything but the renaming and no change. I cannot figure out how to rename the plug-ins folder and I’ve searched the topics but do not find the answer. I wished I could figure this out but I still need your help, please.
No problem – that’s why we’re here :). You need to use FTP or Cpanel (via your hosting account) access to do that – you can find the folder here:
wordpress
wp-content
pluginsHOLD
I have found the wp-content folder but there is no subfolder named “pluginsHOLD”. Or…are you saying I should rename wp-content to pluginsHOLD?
Yes, rename plugins to pluginsHOLD. Don’t change wp-content – plugins should be inside that folder.
I wasn’t finding the subfolder only because it didn’t show up as I expected it to and I was searching for the pluginsHOLD name and not just plugins — so much to learn.
OK — got it and did it. It is not renamed to pluginsHOLD. Nothing on the site has changed though.
Sorry, I meant it is NOW renamed.
I have renamed it back to plugins and reset the computer as well. It is still doing the same thing. I am very appreciative of your taking time from your day to help me.
I’ve run through the instructions again with no change. I’m assuming I was supposed to change pluginsHOLD back to plugins — I refreshed & checked for changes in between. Any other suggestions, please?
Sorry not to have seen this sooner. So with the plugins OFF and using an unmodified twentytwelve theme, you still have this problem?
Have you also tried clearing your browser cache and cookies and any caching on your site? You could also try another browser.
If none of that works, you should reinstall WP – by re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
(Always good to make a back-up of your site first 🙂 ).
Thanks for the info. I tried IE browser and it’s working fine there. Does this mean I’ll have to stop using Firefox which is my main browser or is there just some oddity with that browser right now?
I used CC Cleaner for my whole computer cleaning. Is there something special I should be doing on my WP site to clear the cache & cookies?
So glad I don’t have to go thru a whole reload! Really appreciate your help.
That’s odd that it doesn’t work in FF – can you try reinstalling FF?
Browser cache is under History in FF (at least on Macs). Caching on your site would be under plugins but this sounds like a browser (not site) problem if IE is working.
I will try to re-install FF. Many thanks for your time!!
