Vulnerability on previous WP versions

    Hello,

    I’ve read the news about the vulnerability that would be fixed with Contact Form 7 5.3.2.
    I am currently running version 4.8.1 and I’d like to update, however I cannot do it from the WP Dashboard because the plugin was not marked compatible with my WP version (4.8.15).
    Updating to a new WordPress version would seriously disrupt my theme at this time because it is a custom theme.
    Is there a way I can update Contact Form 7 or fix the vulnerability without being forced to update WordPress to the latest version?

    No, there isn’t.

    Maintaining your sites securely is your responsibility. Update WordPress to the latest 5.6 now. If there is a plugin or theme that is an obstacle to updating other parts, you should make a decision to remove it.
