I completely uninstalled the W3 Total Cache plugin following these instructions:

    Delete wp-content files and folders
    – cache folder
    – w3tc-config folder
    – object-cache.php (if exists)
    – advanced-cache.php (if exists)
    – db.php (if exists)
    – upgrade folder
    – delete w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins/ (if exists)

I also deleted the extra: nginx.conf.

Then when I activate another cache plug-in (i.e. not w3 Total cache) this error comes immediately: W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/public/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

    How do I fix this?

    Hello @mirkini

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to help!

Just to clarify, can you please share if the file exists in  /home/public/wp-content/advanced-cache.php ?

Can you please share the website URL?

    Thanks!

    Hello @vmarko ,

Finally after a few tries it seemed to be somehow an object caching problem. All caching plugins were off, then I activated and configured redis object cache (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/redis-cache/) and the problem resolved itself.

Probably the object caching of W3 total cache remained active in the background while everything removed(?)

    Hello @mirkini

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad to know the problem is resolved.

Most likely the duplicate drop in, since the drop-ins have the same name

    Thanks!
