    Hallo all

    I cannot get Postie to work at all. I have set up a gmail account.

    I have choosen pop3-sll and for mail server: ssl://pop.gmail.com

    But when I check config. I get this every time:
    Connect to Mail Host

    checking

    Warning: imap_open() [function.imap-open]: Couldn’t open stream {ssl://pop.gmail.com:995/service=pop3/ssl/notls/novalidate-cert}INBOX in /var/www/expertvinduer.dk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/postie/postieIMAP.php on line 89
    imap_open failed:
    Unable to connect. The server said:

    Exact same problem. Tried both pop and imap also unlocked captcha and turned off secure apps. NO GO from postie! Same message as above (sherlock127|)

    Any help is highly appreciated as above (im posting on this thread to reinforce the request, not hijack the thread:)

    Change your mail server setting to pop.gmail.com (no ssl://)

    Please take a look at http://postieplugin.com/postie-gmail/ particularlly the last part.
    You are obviously connecting or you wouldn’t get that message.

    I am thinking my hosting company dont allows access to external mail servers.

    Thanks Wayne. I have also worked through your page regarding Google. Hence I did DisplayUnlockCaptcha and turned off secure apps. Tried both pop and imap settings. Google keeps blocking my attempts to connect.

    @houseofstrauss You may want to check with your host to see if they allow outbound connections on either of those ports.

    Dear @wayneallen again thank you!

    Do I type this in my css? sorry I don’t understand it.

    Just talked to my hosting provider and there is no mail restrictions. But I am going to set up a new mail by the hosting company now and hopefully I have more luck that way.

    Hi Wayne, I gave up on gmail as I tried all possibilites.I reconfigured using one of my other email servers. It went through straight away no problem. I think Gmail is a bit touchy maybe?? If anyone gets a full solution, would still like to hear about this.
