I am also facing this issue. 🙁
Will be fixed in the next version. See issue at github.
It doesn’t affect the performance of the plugin. The function is only called when you update plugins/themes/core and it checks whether you updated the current theme and if so, re-checks whether the theme has a <meta description> tag. Nothing major. (via jnfnl)
It doesn’t affect the performance of the plug-in? Then why are all of the sitemaps not working after upgrading from 3.6.1 to 3.7? Seems like that is definitely a major bug/compatibility issue.

@tvguy2000 — apparently, an update is forthcoming. Some sort of patch is available through Github but I’m not technologically advanced enough to understand any of it. (See: http://github.com/jrfnl/wordpress-seo/commit/6fe5d7919349774203aac0230ce8797a9cf95789)
As for the sitemap issue, that is apparently a separate issue, the developers are saying. Please feel free to add your information on this “issue” report — so that we can hopefully help them find the problem there too: http://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/340
Same with me… We should wait for WP SEO Plugin update.
Solution status update – FYI:
I’ve just committed the fix – if anyone prefers not to wait for the next official version, but wants the fix **now* (at your own risk), you can download the current development version of the plugin and upload the unzipped files to your site via FTP.
