• After upgrading to WP 3.8 and Events Manager to 5.5.2, I get this message repeated on all pages.

“Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in …/wordpress/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 205”

The issue appears also when all other plugins are deactivated and the Twenty fourteen theme is activated. After deactivating Events Manager, I have to regenerate permalinks to get rid of the error messages.

sorry, am not getting this issue but just to confirm you are still getting the message even when all other plugins are deactivated or using default wordpress theme?

Yes, I am still getting this message when all other plugins are deactivated and using the defalt WordPress theme (TwentyFourteen).

I’ve just tried to replicate this on my test install and don’t get that error in the same set up.

I would suggest trying to re-install 3.8 and EM by downloading them both and re-uploading to your site.

    Cheers

I have reinstalled WP 3.8 and EM, but the issue is still there.
You can see the site here Tverlandet fotokubb. The frontpage is OK, but when clicking the page menue, the issue appears. WP is installed in a subdirectory.

hmm, since it’s only a warning message and not a fatal error you can try to turn-off wp_debug or your php display_error; and since everything else is working okay except for the warning message?

Well, that is more hiding the problem rather than solving it. It will also hide other error messages that may occur.

You might want to upgrade to the Dev version, that may provide a fix.

That said, as Angelo mentioned the easiest solution – given we’re not able to reproduce the warning message and it’s not affecting functionality – would be to turn warning messages off in wp-config.

Had the fix today after upgrade of all.
The error was fixed for me following:
    http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/plugin-events-manager-rewrite-rules-trigger-compilation-failed-warnings?replies=7#post-3027424

    So, I did:
    1/ deactivate events manager
2/ permanent links to default -> save -> site working
3/ permanent links back to my custom name version -> save -> site working
4/ activate events manager -> site not working (in the sense that all these warning appear
5/ events manger Settings -> Pages -> Slugs for permalinks : hit save all
    –> site now working again

Thank you, it worked for mee too! But I don’t understand why.
