I’m on WPX.net and trying to import posts from the production site to a development site on the same server. They set it to 100 requests allowed.

Even when I set the plugin to only process 2 at at time, I get this:

    [06:24:17] Record #1

    [06:24:17] Existing item found #7

[06:24:17] Warning : Too Many Requests

    [06:24:17] post #7 Successfully Imported

    [06:24:17] Record #2

    [06:24:17] Existing item found #8

[06:24:17] Warning : Too Many Requests

    [06:24:17] post #8 Successfully Imported

    [06:24:17] Record #3

    [06:24:17] Existing item found #10

[06:24:18] Warning : Too Many Requests

[06:24:18] Warning : Too Many Requests

[06:24:18] Warning : Too Many Requests

    [06:24:18] post #10 Successfully Imported

Apparently the posts are imported but only 10% of the images are imported and even less than that are actually set as featured image. Each time I run it again, over the previous imports, it will bring in some more images, but still, maybe 10% or less of those will be set as feature image. WPX.net says everything looks good on the server and nothing in the logs.

How do I upload my media library to the server that are in the directories named by year? These directories have sub directories named the number of the month. Why not traverse them to find the file name? Why do the files all have to be in /temp? Why not in subdirectories in /temp?

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, and thank you for your detailed explanation.

We understand the issue you are facing on WPX.net with the “Too Many Requests” warning and partial image imports, even when processing only a small number of records at a time. We are already actively working on improving the image download and attachment handling, especially for environments with strict request limits.

Regarding your questions about media directories:

    • At the moment, the plugin processes images from the /temp directory only, which is why files placed in subdirectories are not detected.
    • We agree with your suggestion and will consider supporting subdirectories inside /temp (including year/month structures) as soon as possible.
    • Traversing subdirectories to locate images by filename is a valid approach, and we are evaluating this improvement for upcoming updates.

As for the featured image issue, the behavior you described (images importing gradually on repeated runs) is consistent with request throttling by the server. Improving retry logic and image assignment reliability is part of the enhancements we are currently working on.

Thank you for your patience and for sharing valuable feedback. We truly appreciate it, and we’ll keep improving the import process to handle such cases more efficiently.

If you notice anything else or need further assistance, please feel free to let us know.

    Best regards,
    Jignesh
