WEBP support

Hi Pods Team

I created a field type of File / Image / Video then realised I couldn’t upload WEBP files because the Restrict File Types is set to jpg, jpeg, png and gif. No problem I thought, so I manually set my allowed file types to jpg,jpeg,webp.

Unfortunately by doing this the field doesn’t show up in Elementor’s Dynamic Tags list under Pods Image Field. I reverted back to the default file type restriction and noticed that although I can choose previously uploaded WEBP files, I could not then upload them (file type not allowed).

Is there a way this could be supported better or am I missing a trick?

Please contact Elementor about their integration with Pods to make sure the field is available when WebP is added (custom format).
They created the integration code.

But your own drop down doesn’t list webp as an image type. Shouldn’t it be listed in the whitelist by default since it’s supported in WordPress now?

I thought WebP support still required a plugin for WordPress.

Yes, that patch fixes everything. It lets me upload a WEBP file and select one and the field is available to select the key in Elementor’s Dynamic Tag field list under Pods Image Field.

Not sure why choosing a manual whitelist would have caused it to not be available in Elementor.

And no sure, I think they filtered out the images option only and disallowed the custom formats.

We also added a new Pods 2.9 feature which allows you to choose Any Image type supported by WordPress (the default is still just a short list of image types). To get support for this new option for Elementor Pro, they are asking us to use their discussions feature on their main Elementor GitHub.

Voted. Does this mean we have to wait for Elementor to make a change before the issue reported here can be resolved or will the patch be released in the interim?
