I added WP Staging as a plugin to my WordPress site, and began the program to clone my site. However it stalled two thirds of the way through, and when I tried to cancel the process to start again, nothing happened. I then tried going back a page, which then crashed my whole site. I can’t open my admin page let alone access the website. Can someone please help?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@aislingrichmond This indicates your webspace run full and its not big enough to hold a full clone of your website.

As a quick fix login to your website via FTP. Then delete the folder name that is the same as the name of the staging site you created.

This is the folder that contains the staging website. Deleting it will bring back your entire website.

If you still have issues please contact us directly at support [at] wp-staging.com so that we can help you personally.

Hi Rene, thanks so much for your quick reply. Can you please explain what FTP is? (I’m a novice). When I try to login to my WordPress admin page, it takes me to a page saying ” 503 service unavailable”? So, I can’t access any admin functions to be able to follow your advice.

The File transfer protocol (FTP) is a language that computers speak for transferring files from one computer to another over the internet.

It can be used to transfer images, videos, WordPress core files and anything else files from one server system to another. It’s also often used to maintain websites and to edit, upload and download files on a web server.

    FTP credentials always contain:

    – Hostname
    – Port (Default 21)
    – Username
    – Password

They are provided by the hosting provider or within the hosting dashboard.

    What is your hosting provider?

Instead of using FTP, you can login to your hosting provider account and then start a file manager plugin. This allows you to delete the folder as well.

Again, contact us and we can assist you or do that step for you.

    All the best

Thanks Rene. This is all above my level to deal with, I’m afraid. I would really appreciate your support in doing this. My hosting is with Ecohost. A designer created my website but I am also an admin and have access via WordPress admin. However as I said, I cannot access that right now so can’t delete the folder. Thanks.

@renehermi Hi Rene, I managed to access the file manager in EcoHost, and found the WP folder that I added today. I selected the folder with all the files, but it won’t delete them. The message pops up, that the system failed to create these files as ” disc quota exceeded”. It seems that these files are not actually loaded onto the site so I can’t delete them? Can you please help? My website is down, and I’m unable to access the WordPress admin panel to do other work. I can’t seem to access the emails connected to this account either….!!

@aislingrichmond, your website currently is showing “503 Service Unavailable” error; please report it to your hosting provider, and they should be able to fix this server error immediately for you; then we can investigate why you couldn’t clone your site using WP STAGING plugin after that.

Thanks, the issue with the website has been resolved. I’ll try the plugin again tomorrow and see how it goes.
