Unfortunately I cannot take a risk and do it on the live server at the moment. What I did do though was clone the site to another server and did the update. On this occasion I got the warning notice about backing up the databse etc. I did not see that last time for some reason and I don’t known if that had any bearing on the update but on the cloned site all went well.
I will move the cloned version of the site onto the live server soon.
Tried agin on live site – same result – site crashed.
No warning appears in the admin when I try to update but on Dev site I do get a warning panel about backing up etc.
Tried to install vers 9.9.8 and got the following error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/piklist/includes/class-piklist-form.php on line 616
So I have now recovered the live site and Version 0.9.4.31 runs OK.
Since I cannot upgrade will Piklist work OK with this old version with any foreseeable WP upgrades? I am on WP 4.5.3 currently.
Also is there any way to hide the 4 pages worth of the Piklist bulleted list of updates in the plugins menu? Gets tedious havign to scroll through it all to reach other plugins 😉
You’re getting this error because you’re server is running an older version of PHP. The minimum recommended version of PHP for WordPress is 5.6.
You should probably contact your hosting service and ask them to upgrade it.
