My website crashes when I upload images to it. I have already sized down the images and contacted the server who said there is no issue on their end. Why is my website constantly crashing? I get the error message: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I found a work-around where I uploaded the images via New>Media rather than uploading while working on uploading a page. But, it still crashed while working on the page and inserting it from the media.

The server disconnects and I am unable to connect to the website for several minutes and then it randomly returns. I have ensured I have plenty of disk space so that is not the issue. Can someone guide me in the right direction please?

That doesn’t really sound like a WordPress issue. I suppose it could overwhelm and crash under-resourced servers, but they would have to be very under-resourced.

WordPress also can’t bring servers back online, which means there should be something in the server logs.

What I’d do is try to force the error again, not the date and time it went offline and the date and time it came back online, then ask support to check the server logs at and during those times. If they brush you off again, ask to speak to someone higher up.

It is of course possible, though extremely unlikely, that WordPress could be crashing the server, but we’d still need the log entries from only those times to really know.
