• Hi – bit of a novice here. I originally set up my html based website and gave it to a website developer to convert to wordpress site. All working fine until today until I decided to update to the newest version of wordpress. I can log on to my wordpress account and see all the pages / posts etc, but they are no the same as the site. For some reason, the old html site is back online again.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Looks like there is an index.html file in your WordPress installation directory. Just remove it.

    I can’t find it anywhere ;o(

Did you remove the content of index.php in the WordPress root directory?

    Not that I’m aware of?

    Open this in your browser:
    view-source:http://www.l12couriers.co.uk/index.html

As you can see, there is an index.html file that get to run before WordPress’ index.php file. That’s why you’re seeing the HTML version of the site.

As soon as I delete the index.html file and refresh the browser, the site disappears

still struggling with this if anyone can point me in the right direction? I have an open browser with wordpress and all the post/pages are available on there. But the actual site is now blank.

Can you paste what is currently in your index.php file?

I’ve reloaded the original html site up for now as the site being down is not good for business. I fear the index.php set up by the guy I asked to convert the website to a wordpress website has either been deleted or overwritten somehow in error. I’m gutted.
