• This issue occurs 95% of the time on any device. I’ve tried multiple browsers, computers, wifi connections, etc. Multiple people have told me they have ran into this problem when visiting my website (portfolio). The website landing page loads perfect and quickly, however, the FIRST page you click on gets ‘stuck’. You need to refresh the page in order for it to load. Once refreshing, it loads very quickly and there are no issues. After this, the issue is usually resolved and no other pages get stuck. Occasionally, the issue will persist and all pages will get stuck.

At first I thought it was the size of the media in my portfolio, however, I don’t have large media files. The issue also happens on pages with no media. There are rare instances where this issue does not happen at all and every page loads quickly without issue (hence my writing of 95%)

I am using a wordpress plugin called Semplice, a common portfolio builder. I have looked through semplice support forums and cannot find the issue reported there either.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @sambumbalo Hello there, I’m new here so please forgive me if this is not the right way to go about this, but I tried to reproduce the issue on my end, tried 4 different browsers, two Chromium, two Gecko, and I couldn’t replicate it? It might be helpful to include some screenshots and/or developer console log etc.? Awesome portfolio btw!

hey thank you @rainbowforge ! That’s interesting you did not experience the issue. There are times where it does not appear, which makes it more confusing. To be honest I’m not sure what a developer log is, lol. I am measly art director and any development let alone back end knowledge is way above my pay grade. That’s part of the problem, I don’t know where to begin to look

No worries, I’m pretty new to this line of work myself as well. But at least I can help you look to figure out the issue to make a more specific post, not sure if I can help you fix whatever the issue may be 😅.

To look at the developer console log, go to your browser of choice, and press either F12 on your computer or Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+I. Then, tab over to where it says “console”. If there are any errors (or anything really) logged there while your site contents are failing to load, that will be a good way to get an idea of what could possibly be going wrong. If there’s nothing at all there, then it’s possible that there might be something useful in the network tab after running an analysis there as well. If none of that finds anything, you could also try enabling the WordPress debug log, either manually (https://developer.ww.wp.xz.cn/advanced-administration/debug/debug-wordpress/) or by using a plugin if needed (for eg. https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-debugging/). You could also ask your hosting provider’s customer service to help you enable php logging and check their server logs as well perhaps?

Anyway yeah all in all, unless there’s a known issue with semplice that causes this (I’ve never used semplice so wouldn’t know), and someone else might know that off the top of their head, more information is needed to figure out what the issue is, I hope that’s at least somewhat helpful 🙂

Hi Sam, I’ve been having the exact same problem as you since I’m a Semplice user (over 5 years). And it’s really annoying. Have you had any luck solving this issue ?
