I am trying to redirect a website I own to an entirely different website I own. I tried using the redirection plugin and I was struggling to understand what format I need to put the links of these sites in and also I was unable to get it to work.

Have you read the support documentation? You put the URL you want to redirect from in the source, and the URL you want to redirect to in the target
