  • @harshadbyjus Hi there, thanks for posting your topic.

    1) Could you please check if you can load the Stories dashboard when all other plugins have been disabled and use a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Two?

To safely simulate this, navigate to WordPress Plugins and click on Web Stories > Troubleshoot. You will see that the Troubleshooting mode has been enabled. This mode only affects the experience of the logged-in user, not your website visitors.

    2) To check for any conflicting plugins, could you provide your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

    Hi @luckynasan ,

Thank you for reverting back. We have tried Disable all the plugins except webstory and checked and still the same issue with default html5-blank theme. Also tried troubleshoot method and still not luck.

Have sent Site Health Information over Privately link. Can you check and help on the same.

    Thank you,
    Harshad Kakadiya

    @harshadbyjus Thank you.

Can you please temporarily disable html5-blank theme, and activate WordPress Twenty-Two to see if the issue still occurs?

    @luckynasan Thank you.

Tried doing the same now but there is no luck. Can you see any other solution here as its still shows the same error.

Especially this below error where user list is not coming and possibly affecting the flow.

    401 -> https://www.xyz.com/wp-json/web-stories/v1/users/?per_page=100&who=authors&_locale=user

Can you check and let us know what can be the possible solution here ?

    Thank you,

@harshadbyjus It looks like you are using Web Stories v1.23.2.

Please upgrade to version 1.27.0 and clear any cache then tell me if you are still having issues.

Hi @luckynasan, Just now I have upgraded the plugin to Version 1.27.0 and am sad to inform you that the same issue still persists.

Can you suggest the next solution?

    Thank you,
    Harshad Kakadiya

Thank you. It sounds like there may be a WordPress permissions issue here.

Do you have access to the PHP error/ WP DEBUG logs?

Temporarily setting define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true ); and define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true ); in your wp-config.php file should show you an additional error message that can help us track down the issue.

You can reach out to your hosting provider if you’re unable to edit that file directly or need their help to provide the server logs.

    Hi @luckynasan ,

I have enabled the Debug logs and found one error saying “Web Stories for WordPress requires JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript in your browser settings.” (No other errors)

But it’s already enabled for all sites and also has the latest version of the browser.

    Can you suggest?

    Thank you,

    Hi @luckynasan ,

Can we have a call where we can discuss this in more detail and resolve the issue as it’s a blocker?

Can you please let us know how we can connect to the team and your availability?

    Thank you,
    Harshad Kakadiya

@harshadbyjus This support forum is the best channel to resolve this issue. It still sounds like a WordPress capabilities/permissions issue. Would it be possible for you to set up a new staging website with a fresh WordPress install on your current host and only install the Web Stories plugin?

Please also check in a Chrome incognito browser to see if you still get the same.

    Hi @luckynasan ,

I could manage to fix the Dashboard issue. Now finally when I created my first story with the plugin and tried preview (even hitting by URL), faced a new error as Below.

There was an error generating the web story, probably because of a server misconfiguration. Try contacting your hosting provider or open a new support request.

Please help us on fixing it on priority.

    Thank you,
    Harshad Kakadiya

@harshadbyjus As the message indicates, please contact your hosting provider or system administrator as they will be able to provide more useful information into why this may be happening and check for any server misconfiguration.

    Hi @luckynasan

    Greetings…

After debugging and searching out solutions I found that the 1.15.1 version is working fine with our website.

I just wanted to know like by when webstory’s old version 1.15.1 support will stop?

Please let us know soon so that we can go ahead with implementing webstory with version v1.15.1 on our website as it’s been pending for a long.

    Thank you,

@harshadbyjus We do not recommend downgrading to the older version of the plugin.
Does the same issue occur for Web Stories 1.28.0?

    Thread Starter harshadbyjus

    (@harshadbyjus)

    Hi @luckynasan

We have tried Web story 1.28.0 also today and still the same issue persist i.e., Create Story button click goes to 504 error.

Can you please just let us know by when webstory’s old version 1.15.1 support will stop? As we tried all the versions available and only working with 1.15.1

We dont have any other options left for now and its critical for us to start of using webstories for our website as its pending from real long time.

    Thank you,
    Harshad Kakadiya
