Weird 404 erros

    Hi Joel,

    We’re getting the 404 errors sent to our email and in the admin backend with the 404 paths, etc without an issue.

    But we have been getting 100’s of 404 errors that look absolutely weird aka wrong. We’re not seeing these errors on GWT though.

    eg: 404 path: /wp-content/themes/mediacenter/assets/fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.eot?

    404 path: product-cateory/toys-baby-care/page/3/ (this page clearly opens up on our site and is not indexed via yoast since it’s pages 1,2,3,4,5 opening.

    404 path: /wp-content/themes/mediacenter/assets/css/owl.video.play.png

    Are these something we need to worry about? since non of these 404’s are showing at GWT?

    Hi Chris7900,

    You are getting 404 error log emails whenever someone visit a 404 page in your website.

    You are not seeing these 404 errors in GWT, and that is why you are using this plugin 🙂

    Whenever Googlebot visit a 404 page our plugin will show an existing page (that you set) and will tell Google that that page is moved permanently. So Google will not log that as 404 error. That is why you are not seeing that error in GWT. This improves your SEO.

    Thanks for the explanation, makes sense 🙂

    But the those 404 path error examples I have given up. Who will access those links for your plugin to through a 404 email to us? Those links are unheard of?

    Might be other Crawlers/Bots! I will soon include an option to avoid logging Bots (optionally).
