    Hey Alex!

I’m giving this a shot for the first time and it seems I’ve encountered a small problem, either uploaded mp4 videos or youtube videos retrieve a a blank featured image with a play button.

Here’s a link to the image

Can you give me a hint on how to fix this if you have no time? And, when it’s fixed, is it easy with the way you coded this to retrieve the first frame of the video?

    Thanks!

The plugin uses this as a placeholder featured image because a featured image is required in order to automatically show the videos on the frontend without manipulating your themes source code. When the plugin fails to retrieve a featured image from YouTube it will also fallback to this placeholder – same for local videos.

Yes, I’ve just found that out in the class-backend.php. So sad… I wanted to make sure the client had the minimal effort possible, in this case just uploading a video and thats it…because that raises the possibilities of them adding a pic with some tiny differences… I’m trying to do the same as this site, that shows a pic and on mouseover it starts moving.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to retrieve a frame of the uploaded video?

Thanks for the quick answer! 😉

As I see you can’t do it straight out of the box/plugin, right? You need to install some server functionality like ffmpeg separately, right? Understand why you probably decided to leave it out for the user. Thanks anyway.
