• I am not into servers or programming, so I need some help with this.

My host, Pair, keeps telling me I’m exceeding my bandwidth and charging me for it. I moved some big files off the server and moved up to a higher-bandwidth account and that helped for a while, but the problem is back.

This time, when I asked Pair what could be causing it, they found that strange RSS feeds are “oriented toward” the two domains that I have WordPress sites on, machigai.com and deconstructingcomics.com. (Some are also oriented toward my other domain, which isn’t even a WordPress site!)

    They look like this:

       1 www.timyoungonline.com 27.83.178.114 - - [16/Oct/2018:00:01:04 -0400]
    "GET /wordpress/?feed=rss2# HTTP/1.1" 400 0 "-" "-"

Pair told me an .htaccess file could be used to block those IP addresses, but I don’t know how to set it up. But I wanted to ask here if this sort of thing has happened to other WordPress users, and what the fix is.

Belatedly realized this might be related to the podcasts I am serving through WordPress with a plugin. The files themselves are not stored on this server, though. What do you think?
