    Hello,
I don’t remember ever having installed Wordfence before, although I guess I must have for a short time, because I discovered all the Wordfence database tables (21 to be exact), along with a handful of files in wp-content/wflogs.

I found removal instructions here, but I was confused about my discovery that any WF items were there at all, so just wanted to make sure before deleting. https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/#manual-removal

    1. Is it safe to delete these tables and wflogs directory?
    2. It’s not possible that other plugins may be referencing them?
    3. If I remove these manually, could I be missing something else? Should I use Wordfence Assistance tool to be safe?

I don’t see anything else, for example nothing in the plugins folder or my main .htaccess, and I can’t find any wordfence-waf.php or php.ini.

    Thanks,
    Nate

I ended up using Wordfence Assistant Plugin, and it took care of the DB tables and wp-content/wflogs. Seems like things are okay…will mark as solved if nothing comes up in the next day or so.

Hello @goseongguy and thanks for reaching out to us!

You took a good route in removing these. Are you looking to remove everything Wordfence related?

To ensure you have completely removed Wordfence, follow these steps:

    • Remove extended protection manually (https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#removing-the-optimization)
    • Remove the wordfence plugin folder located in wp-content/plugins
    • Remove the wflogs folder located in wp-content
    • Remove wordfence-waf.php located in the root of you WordPress installation
    • Remove all Wordfence related database tables from the database, using for example phpMyAdmin or Wordfence Assistant plugin.
    • Check either .htaccess file or .user.ini depending on your server configuration and remove any code snippets wrapped by # Wordfence WAF and # END Wordfence WAF.

    Thanks again!
