What are the source strings?

    In the help it says “The button with the sync icon updates your translations from the source strings available.” What are the source strings? And why would I want to syncronize with them…?

    The source strings are the English phrases in your theme – those defined by its author. You want to be in sync with the available strings so you can translate all strings that exist, and none that don’t.

    To understand this Gettext workflow I recommend you read up on WordPress internationalization.
