What does Red X mean?

    What does it mean when a capability is in red with a big red X?

    I see I can click on them and put a checkmark there, but when I save they go back to being a red X.

    A red X indicates the capability is not only unassigned, but negated. This can be used to ensure the a user does not receive the capability from a secondary role definition.

    Thanks for the explanation.
    As the original post states, “I see I can click on them and put a checkmark there, but when I save they go back to being a red X.”

    How can I as an admin reverse the negated status?

    “I see I can click on them and put a checkmark there, but when I save they go back to being a red X.”

    That means you have another plugin forcing those capabilities to be unavailable to the role.
