Ah, hurting brains … sorry. So, post relations will do two things if checked for a specific custom post type …
- It will add an option in the posts publishing section which will control whether the post is featured in the widget
- It will allow posts of that post type that have been categorized into a pressgram category to be controlled by the inclusion/exclusion settings.
These settings are most powerful if a user is using CPTs. Most folks will not need to bother with post relations, too much, as they will only have ‘Post’ as an option.
By default, most home pages display only posts of the type ‘post’. This will allow other post types to be included in the home or rss feed.
Hope that sheds a little light. I agree, there is some clarity needed here. Thanks for pointing that out.
So do I need to check that post box? My picture today didn’t follow any of the rules I had setup, so maybe this is why?

If you intend to use any of the inclusion control options, then yes.
I don’t think that it should affect the processing of the post as it’s received.
So, for example, I want the image set as a featured image. Do I need the post box checked? If not, then something’s not working. Or it didn’t earlier today.
I’ll have to do more testing.

Any more success with this? Note that the category does need to be defined within the app itself. This is a change from previous versions of the plugin, but necessary, as it now supports multiple category definitions.
I haven’t used the app recently. I’ll let you know if it’s still an issue. I should know in a few days. Sorry for the delay.
I still don’t get post relations, but my problem is gone. π
Great!
