@lambs We are not aware of any issues with the plugins you mentioned and outputting Open Graph metadata.
Are you able to provide us with an example URL of one of the pages where you are experiencing this issue so that we can check for any problems that might cause an issue with the image preview in WhatsApp?
It may be an issue related to the image requirements of each of the platforms. For WhatsApp, their image requirements and recommendations are different from that of Facebook. Unfortunately we were unable to find an official guideline for the image requirements for WhatsApp, but you can find some similar recommendations here: https://roei.stream/2018/11/18/ideal-open-graph-image-size-for-whatsapp-link-share/
In the past it was recommended that the image needed to be under 300kb in size and 256x256px but not larger than 400x400px. We checked on the file you have set for the og:image and see that it measures 2304×1728 and is 1.2MB, so if you want the image preview to appear in WhatsApp we would recommend to try using a smaller image that follows those recommendations.

Hi @devnihil
It was working before. But somehow has stopped. Here is a link

This image did work before so it’s strange!
Hi @lambs
We checked the source code and noticed that the og:image tag is not being output. If you clear your cache (server, plugin/theme, browser, or CDN such as Cloudflare) does this resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider.
Also, can you please confirm if you have the latest Yoast SEO 15.6.2?

@jerparx thanks. I have cleared the cache and have the latest version of yoast. It’s weird as it was working before I installed the caching plugins but removing them hasn’t made a difference.
Hi,
We tested the URL on Facebook’s debugger tool here and Facebook was able to detect the right image, even though no og:image tags are being generated. See image: https://ibb.co/nkqt8jC.
Since WhatsApp is owned by Facebook we would expect WhatsApp to also show the right image when you share. We suggest the following to help try to resolve it.
A. Contact WhatsApp
We suggest contacting WhatsApp as it is odd that Facebook’s tool can see it but WhatsApp cannot. You can contact them here: https://www.whatsapp.com/contact/?subject=messenger.
B. No og:image tags
We can see the image here https://i0.wp.com/wasteman.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/pac-man-lamp.jpg?fit=300%2C250&ssl=1 is being generated from JetPack. We ask that you please try the following steps
1. Delete JetPack from the site.
2. Clear all your caching.
3. Delete the image from the URL https://wasteman.uk/test/ and also from your Media Library. The reason being is that JetPack has a feature which puts a copy of your images onto a special server designed to load images fast. So everytime you upload an image to your media library it also goes to that server.
4. Make sure the image fits WhatsApp according to the guidelines here: https://roei.stream/2018/11/18/ideal-open-graph-image-size-for-whatsapp-link-share/.
5. Re-upload the image to your media library and back onto the page.
6. Inspect the source code and look for the: og:image tag. Does one appear? If so, sharing it to WhatsApp should make it appear (assuming no other issues as described in A, above). This guide explains more about how to search and inspect the source code: https://yoast.com/help/view-page-source-site/
