When entering API key nothing happens
-
Hi,
I have been trying to use this plugin for a couple of days now without luck. Every time I enter my MailChimp API key and click the button “Save all changes” nothing happens (except for a refresh). Sometime the error “Invalid API Key” appears even though I’m copy pasting the API key from MailChimp.

Hey @wes00769, thanks for reaching out. By chance have you tried to regenerate a fresh API key in MailChimp and use that one to connect?
I just try that but it still the same.
Ok thank you @wes00769, a few more follow up questions:
– What plugin version are you running?
– Is your site self-hosted, or is it a wordpress.com business account?
– If self-hosted, who is your hosting provider?
– What version of WooCommerce are you running?– Kyle
The answers are next to the question.
– What plugin version are you running? 2.1.8
– Is your site self-hosted, or is it a wordpress.com business account? Self-hosted
– If self-hosted, who is your hosting provider? Is a windows server.
– What version of WooCommerce are you running? 3.4.3Thanks for the quick response.
@wes00769 does your server have CURL installed?
Yes
@wes00769 – thanks for the info. This is kind of a stretch – but have you verified that the API key works outside of this plugin, using something like POSTMAN to verify that the connectivity is ok on the MailChimp side? I’m curious to see if you can make a successful call completely outside of your wordpress install. Would you mind doing that ( or letting us know if you’ve done this previously )?
We’ll get to the bottom of this. Also – if you could forward any details over about your windows server setup for us to see if we could duplicate it. If you need to send this privately – please go ahead and send it to the MailChimp support and let them know to forward along that info to Ryan.
Thanks!
@wes00769 we’re adding a code change that will provide you with a better error message in the next release 2.1.9. We’re doing QA on that this week and I will be able to touch base with you shortly. We’ve seen some issues coming through which might be related to a firewall. Stay tuned for the release coming up.
@wes00769, we just released v2.1.9 a little while ago. When you get a free minute, can you give the plugin a fresh install? If it throws an error, please share. We’re hoping to see a little more of a detailed response so we can troubleshoot further.
Thanks for your reply. I deleted the last version of the plugin and did a fresh install of the new version. Now when I try to activate the plugin with the API key another error comes up:
CURL error :: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
Thanks again.
@wes00769 ok that sounds like a local PHP.ini setting issue. Can you reach out to your host and tell them about this problem? It’s pretty common where they just need to update the file path of where the .crt file is being loaded from.
Ok, I fixed that and the previous message no longer shows up. Now the form submit but nothing happen. It’s like doing a page refresh.
@wes00769, do you happen to have any caching plugins or services (Cloudflare) running?
No, I don’t think so. I don’t know if this information helps but my website is running on a Windows server.

Hi @wes00769, that is something we would need to investigate further. At this time, I believe all our testing environments run on Linux. I’ll reach out to another member of our support team to see if that’s accurate. If it is, we’ll see about dialing up a Windows install to troubleshoot things further.
