Another update; another failure to update itself; another site with no stats or anything until you spot the issue; another failure to automatically install; another manual FTP upload.

The will this ever get fixed?

So sorry about this! Unfortunately there isn’t a lot we can do to solve this issue. The problem isn’t related to Jetpack itself, but reflects a failure at one point during WordPress’ update process. I covered most of this in our last exchange last year:
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/jetpack-failed-to-install/

Not much has changed since then. We keep trying to remove things from Jetpack when possible to make the plugin’s zip file as small as possible. As it stands, the bulk of the plugin size is made from language files, useful for site owners who do not use WordPress in US English.

We’ve made some progress there thanks to WordPress’ language packs; they allow us to ship less and less language files in Jetpack itself, and instead rely on ww.wp.xz.cn to deliver language files when a plugin is fully translated into a specific language. Unfortunately, language packs are only available when a plugin is fully translated; if a language is less than 95% translated, no language pack will be generated, and we consequently have to include the language files ourselves, inside the Jetpack plugin. That’s why you’ll find a lot of .mo language files in the languages/ folder of your Jetpack plugin today. We opt not to generate any language file at all when a language is less than 50% translated, but we still have to provide language files for all languages that are between 51% and 95% translated. That’s a lot of languages today, and really is what creates most of the update issues folks like you run into.

I’m afraid there is no work-around or easy solution though: we could opt not to ship any language files, but that would be unfair for everyone using WordPress in one of those not-fully translated languages.

At this point all I can recommend is that you disable automatic plugin updates on servers where you know you usually experience issues, and manually update there.

Sorry not to be of more help.
