Where is the Category Cloud widget?
-
I have been using categories, not tags on my blog, and wanted to add a cloud. According to the linked page, WP has a category cloud widget, but I can’t find it anywhere.
Anyone able to help? Thanks

there is a bit of a mixup – you are posting a WordPresss.com reference in a WordPress.org forum –
what is true for .com does not necessarily need be true for .org
if you have a selfhosted site based on WordPress.org, have a look at the ‘Tag Cloud Widget’ – there you can select the taxonomy ‘Categories’ …
if your site is with WordPress.com, please ask at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/
Hmm, actually I’m hosting it on my hosting company’s server, not on wp.com or wp.org.
How come there are two WP sites anyway? More to the point, if I’m not hosting on either, how do I know which one I should post my questions on?
Thanks for the reply.
.org does not host, it provides the free software which you seem to be using.
so, you are in the right forum here.
goto ‘dashboard’ and check for the ‘Tag Cloud Widget’ under ‘Appearance – Widgets’…
Thanks for the reply, but as I said in my initial post, I was looking for the category cloud widget that was mentioned in that article. I wasn’t using tags at that stage.
As it happens, having read about the difference between tags and categories, I modified my posts to use tags, and so can use the tag cloud widget.
What baffled me was that by default, the feature to add tags to your posts is disabled. You have to go to the page options and enable it first.
Anyway, all sorted now. Thanks
the mentioned article does not apply to a site based on ww.wp.xz.cn.
in a site based on ww.wp.xz.cn, the ‘Category Cloud Widget’ is hidden behind the ‘Tag Cloud Widget’ by using its ‘Taxonomy’ setting … as I suggested before.
Thanks for the reply.
