Where to set post_type?

    I was using the Single Post Template plugin for my post templates, but it’s not supported in 2.9. I’d like to take advantage of the new post_type feature and do away with this plugin alltogether, but I can’t find where to set the post type.

    Is this not set on the Add Post page, or will something have to go into functions.php?
