White screen since upgrade

    wp 4.9.2 , php 7.1

    Hello to you all,

    Since I’ve (manually) upgraded WP I have a blank white screen and a 500 Error (no access to the admin neither).

    I’ve double-checked the file-permissions.
    Renamed the plugin directory.
    Renamed the .htaccess.
    Added the followings in the wp-config.php :
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false );
    But no debug.log file is being saved in the /wp-content/ directory.

    I also submitted a ticket to my provider (OVH).

    Any idea of what I should do?

    I see white screen.

    A blank white page means that PHP is crashing. This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including: (1) Bad theme (2) Bad plugin (3) Bad install/upgrade (4) you exhausted the memory limit (5) It could also mean that there is an issue with your web hosting server.

    1 and 2 are more common (typically due to a function conflict introduced by a plugin or theme).

    Since the problem can be caused by any number of things, check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

    If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in them, try Enabling debugging

    Many thanks @t-p,
    1 –> I renamed my them
    2 –> I renamed the plugin folder
    3 –> most probably the cause, but i can’t a find a workaround
    4 –> well… maybe, but I had not changed anything as I tried to upgrade
    5 –> I’ve raised a ticket but still no answer

    error logs –> I don’t find them, have asked the support
    debug –> is on

    I’ll continue exploring the codex

    Hi,

    Does WP 1.9.2 require PHP 7.1?
    Could i have a problem because i upgraded with an older version of php?
    I upgraded to php 7.1 afterwards because i had a blank screen.

    Also, i’ve already re-uploaded fresh copies of the lastest wp twice.

    Hello,

    I re-installed wp 4.8.3, it did not work. so i tried the version that was installed before I moved to 4.9, version wp 4.7.2, it still did not work. so now i’m really lost.

    So, I had to go back to a previous version of the website (3 days before).

    Now, it’s working, but I can’t upgrade.

    Weird, I have tried to upload and run a separate version of WP, named wordpress4.9.2, and then NEWWP, just to see if I could do something starting from scratch, but it says WP is already installed (when the w-config file is not even configured, present, and sends me to the other version.

    Do you have any idea of what I should do? I need to upgrade, and need to figure out what’s going on, I’m pretty sure there’ll be a problem with my theme.

    Hope I’ll get an answer. Maybe I should start a new topic.
