White space between sections

I was really excited about Make, and started building a new home page with the Builder. I put a photo in a banner section, then wanted a section with text below that, but could only figure out to use another banner section. The words are all white (doesn’t work well on a white background!), and if I put color in the background of the banner there is a white space between my sections.

Am I using the wrong kind of section for text? How do I make the text a color and get rid of that white padding space?
