I am sorry for those of you that don’t want to see this post because it has been covered so many times but I have tried many things and it won’t work for me. I have a blank white screen when trying to log into my site. I have disabled the plugins by renaming the folder, also renamed the themes folder so that would maybe go back to default and neither worked. When renaming the themes it actually just gave me a white screen for the homepage as well.

I even took the steps to go in the MySQL database and change the theme in the options table. Also I have looked at the functions.php file but I am unsure of what I am exactly looking at. I see quite a few <?php?> brackets but I don’t know if I should delete some or not. I think there are about three to four sets of brackets.

Also I was looking at what a moderator said, to delete all of the WP files and reupload, which would work but I don’t want to lose all of my information.

    What do I do?

Thank you for all of the help in advance.

  • Usually for me it’s an issue with the functions file. If there is a blank line at the end of the file or beginning even it tends to die.

Try a different theme, ideally the default 2010 one, and if it works again it’s an issue with the theme.

How am I supposed to change the theme without being able to log in? I tried to change it through the MySql database in the options table but it doesn’t fix it. It will change the theme but still no log in. I don’t have a blank line at the end of the file. Nor at the beginning. If there is anyone that would be willing to take a look at it I will send the php file to them. Any help is greatly appreciated. I really can’t afford to lose everything that is there.
