Hi, this might sound quite simple but I haven’t been able to find a combination of settings or a plugin to achieve it.
I’m 95% happy with the way my blog identifies spam, sends comments for approval etc. Akismet catches most of the spam, then the standard option to send comments for approval that have 1+ links gets the rest (albeit with a filter on comment_max_links_url to treat the author URL as a link for this purpose).
But I still have to approve comments with links that are from previously approved comment authors. I’d like these to be approved automatically. The standard option “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” works the wrong way for this, meaning I would also have to moderate comments without links that are now automatically approved (I’ve never had spam comments with zero links so I’m happy to let those through).
I hope this is making sense! I’ve tried Antispam Bee as it has the option to whitelist previously approved authors, but comments were still being sent for moderation – I assume because they contained links. I suppose generally the problem is that the spam detection rules are additive and I want the presence of a previously approved comment to override the spam detection instead.
