I’ve been reading the information you’ve put up about the plugin, but I can’t find anything that explains why it requires a WordPress.com account and XMLRPC?

Our Jetpack plugins rely on the XML-RPC endpoint and a WordPress.com account to communicate with our servers and manage your account and your Jetpack Boost plan.

Thanks for the information, @muffinpeace.

I guess I wasn’t clear enough. What I was really asking was why the plugin needs to communicate with an external server to do the optimizations it does. I believe I found my answer in the Jetpack privacy policy, if that’s applicable to Jetpack Boost.

Yes, the Jetpack privacy policy applies to all Jetpack plugins, including Jetpack Boost. Jetpack Boost is communicating between your site and our servers.
