WHY FTP if LOCALHOST?

    Ok. Maybe I’m just displaying my dumbness again.

    1. I go to my WordPress site dashboard, tools -> export *
    and a *.xml file appears on my desktop.

    2. I go to localhost WordPress site dashboard, tools -> import
    and the importer asks me to ftp from somewhere.

    Q: How do I just get the .xml on my desktop to be imported?
