Why is support removed for core block patterns?

    I am working locally with your theme and I wanted to add support for page excerpts and I noticed this:

    // Remove core block patterns.
    remove_theme_support( 'core-block-patterns' );

    Why are you doing that?

    And on a side note, I noticed there is not a lot of activity in this forum? Is something wrong with the theme so that no one is coming in to ask for help?
