Why loop in single.php or page.php but doesn't do loop?

    I have learnt a lot about WordPress,but this one still puzzled me and couldn’t find answer anywhere so far. The loop is used to show all posts and single.php and page.php show single post or Page content.I found many theme keep the loop in the single.php or page.php.php template how it works in showing a single Page or post?
