I’ve just wanted to add an attachement. Clicking on the attachement button opened a popup stating that attachement are not supported.

Well, why the button in the first place??

While I absolutely get your point, it would be much better to implement a file size limit for attachments. Some users may not want or even can’t open external links. A CTA is not always the best solution.

Frankly, why don’t you let the users decide? We are adults, aren’t we? In my humble opinion, the very best solution would be a notice: “Dear user, do you really want to send a 10 MB attachement? We strongly advice against it!” 🙂

    Hello @cutu234,

yes, we’re almost sure you’re all adults but we also have to ensure a smooth experience with our plugin for all our users. Sending an attachment on a newsletter will almost invariably lead to being blocked by spam filters. File size and bandwidth limits are also an issue of course. So I’m sorry but no, that’s never going to be an option.

This is simply not true. For larger lists I always use professional services like Rapidmail etc. We send hundreds of thousands of emails on a regular basis. Attachments are not a problem at all, as long as they are reasonably small. All professional providers I worked with allow attachments.

On the other hand, your plugin does not address much more important issues that do cause severe problems in real life. For example, providers like Google and GMX changed their policies. If you don’t use proper domain verification, the emails will blocked by spam filters or, even worse, completely rejected. So, the user will never even know that an email was sent. The plugins allows using an email address as sender that contains a completely different domain. THAT will cause issues.

This can even affect emails sent by Woocommerce, for example. This is why SMTP should today be used even on very simple websites. Try to send a message from a contact form to a GMAIL address using a sender address that does not belong to the domain. Good luck!

    Hello,

we are well aware of the implications of sending with a different email address from than the one related to the same domain. That’s why we suggest our users to do all the proper testing before sending an actual newsletter, as pointed out in our documentation. As for the attachments, we won’t be adding this feature, sorry. We have enough knowledge of our typical user configuration to also know what will be likely to bring in issues and what won’t. I’ll close this topic and I really do thank you for your feedback, which we greatly value.
