    Have you checked the option “Support for widgets” on the Youtube tab of the options page? That should work. Then simply paste your video URLs into a HTML widget like you do it in posts.

    Thanks… but when I place the url in a text widget or html widget, the url is just visible, it does not even show the video,. just the url.
    I tried 3 different html widgets and 3 different themes…
    Any ideas ?

    p.s. the option shows in the youtube section of your settings. Does this mean that the video will not be able to play in widgets ?

    It means that you have to check the option to make Youtube videos loadable in widgets. Haven’t you checked the option?
