widget css customization?

Hi – I am trying to customize my first theme, and can’t figure out how to customize the wpng-calendar widget, that I’d like to appear in the right sidebar.

I cant figure out how to not have the calendar appear below the content div – right now, if I add more text to the central white area of the page, the calendar keeps getting bumped further down the page.

Also, I can’t figure out how to get rid of the list bullets that seem connected to the Calendar and Search.

Any help Greatly appreciated!!
